Classes offered by Gillette Educational Consulting


   Life 101: Problem Solving and Goal Setting

The weekly group meeting topics will be driven by group members and family feedback. Members will learn to communicate concerns and share suggestions with other members. The use of role play and community practice will be integrated into class. 

Basic Money and Functional  Math Skills

Group members will practice money, budgeting and functional math skills through a variety of hands-on and "real life" experiences in the classroom and community.

Increasing Employment Skills:

Group members will develop and improve employment skills through role playing, class discussion, and multi-media.

Art Exploration in the Community and the Classroom

This exciting class will include exploration of community arts and hands on activities including painting, digital photography,  multi-media, oil crayon and others.

Personal Health for Women

The ladies in this class will explore and learn about personal health, hygiene, relationships, safety and basic social sexual education. Questions will be answered in a safe confidential environment.

Personal Health for Men

The men in this class will explore and learn about personal health, hygiene, relationships, safety and basic social sexual education. Questions will be answered in a safe confidential environment. The class is co-taught by a male instructor.


  Yoga for Beginners

Group members will will learn beginning Hatha Yoga poses for wellness and relaxation.

Interpersonal Relationships:Home, School, Work and Community

Group members will develop and improve communication and interpersonal skills through role playing, class discussion and multi-media.

 Moving Toward Independence: Making it a reality!

Increasing independence at home and in the community. Group Members will learn how to work with agency staff, parents and others in their lives to increase independence in all life areas.

 

Fun 101: Community Access and Recreation

This exciting class will include exploration of community leisure and recreation activities and locations. Group members will generate a list, research and plan each outing.

Reading for Pleasure: Book Club

Group members will read a book from a list of award winning young adult authors, read for pleasure, increase reading skills, and enjoy reading for fun! Group members discuss characters, plot, prediction, and use other comprehension skills.

 

Creative Cooking 101:

Members will meet at participant homes to cook and enjoy meals together. Club members will integrate meal planning, recipe reading, generating a grocery list, measuring, cooking, and social skills into each class.
